As you reconcile cases – checking all information is complete and documents are present, you may find you need to update the case status.

The available Case State options are:

- New
- Not Coded
- In Progress
- On Hold
- Case Completed
- Coding Error
- Deleted

**To update a Case State.**..first make sure it is selected before clicking the button labeled 'Update Case State'. Updating Case State is not a required feature in Claim Maker but can greatly aid when multiple people are interacting with cases.

_Note: The 'In Progress' Case State will be automatically applied to a case once coding has started and will be automatically marked as 'Code Completed' as soon as the 'Complete button' is clicked in the line item area of a case._

Additionally, adding a Case State Reason can provide extra contest for the Case State. Available Case State Reasons are:

- Missing Documents
- Missing Patient Info
- Ready to Code
- Duplicate
- Billing Info Only; Ignore
- Misc; Ignore
- Scheduled; Ignore
- Clarification of Date of Service
- Clarification of Provider,
- Documentation missing for Block(s)
- Documentation missing for Line(s)
- Documentation Missing for TEE
- Illegible
- Insufficient CPT/ASA
- Missing Diagnosis Code; Incomplete
- Question for Mentor

**To update a Case State Reason**…select the dropdown inline with the case you wish to update.

Contact your organization's admin if you would like to disable certain states or state reasons or add a new state.
